Designers Maurice and Jordan Dery Unveil a Unique Wall Sconce

The inspiration for Olah comes from the depths of refinement. It takes aesthetic cues from two of Karice's award-winning creations, marrying them to bring a new luminaire to life. Olah illuminates on a ring without visible fasteners, offering a clean, finished aesthetic that is both sleek and sophisticated.

What sets Olah apart is its unique properties. It uses a circline fluorescent bulb that is integral to the lighting design. The ingenuity and love of engineering have enabled the creation of this light without any visible fasteners. The light can be mounted in four different ways, using a specifically designed universal bulb holder and a distinctly designed mounting plate. This versatility gives users four lights in one.

The realization of Olah is a testament to the technological prowess of its creators. The process begins with an idea, which is then drafted in Auto Cad. The design is refined, and programs are written to machine the parts on a computer-controlled milling machine. The parts are then machined out of billet aluminum, finished, test-fitted, and sent for anodizing. After the parts are finished, the light is assembled, wired, inspected, and certified.

Depending on how the bulb is hung, or what bulb is chosen, the dimensions of this light will change. The first option measures 228.6mm x 276.3mm, while the second option measures 203.2mm x 324.5mm. This flexibility in design allows for customization based on the user's needs and preferences.

The design of Olah overcame several challenges. A creative solution was developed to eliminate all fasteners, resulting in a clean and seamless design. The wall mounting plate is attached to the J-box using a uniquely designed mounting bracket, further contributing to the sleek aesthetic of the design.
